My Story
Hi! My name is Jessimae Ludwick.
I have been with Scentsy for 7 years. Before I joined, I had never even heard of Scentsy before. I enlisted into the Marine Corps right after high school. About 2 years into my service, I met a girl, who became one of my best friends. She knew all about Scentsy and was buying them from her consultant. She told me to just look around the catalog and see if anything stuck out to me. She knew I was always buying candles and different things to make the house smell and look good. She told me to be open to Scentsy. Well, I instantly fell in love with a zebra warmer and 2 scents, I remember to this day. They were Flirtatious and Simply Irresistible. About another year went by and my unit changed. My friend ended up moving to another base as well as her consultant. I was sad and well, now.... I was scentless! I had no one.
I remember talking to the GySgt of my shop about a Scentsy warmer in his office. He told me that his wife buys from someone close to their house. I got ahold of the GySgt’s wife and she gave me the information for her consultant. This is when I met the lovely Aspen! (Who is now my Superstar Director). I went over to Aspen’s house and I was expecting to just pick something out of a catalog again. I walked in and it was nice to see warmers on throughout her home. But she opened this closet door and there were Scentsy products from the floor to the top shelf. I was in complete shock! I was so excited to sit there and pull out the warmers to look at them, smell all the bars, and to see some of the other products. Seeing products in person was so much different than just seeing them in a catalog. I was in love with the products. I was like a kid in the candy store. It was the best thing ever! So, I bought a few things that she had in stock and ordered another warmer. She talked to me about joining and I said I was still in the Marine Corps, so I didn’t think it would be a good option for me yet.
After my experience with her amazing stock closet, I kept thinking about maybe joining. About a week later, I went back to Aspen’s to pick up the stuff I ordered. I asked for some more information about joining but still wasn’t fully ready. About 2 months went by, and my time to get out of the Marine Corps was just around the corner. I was trying to find a job for when I got out as well as starting school. I couldn’t find a job right away and that made me nervous. I thought, “Well, now I have the time to do it, I’m not doing anything else. Why not?” So, I called Aspen and told her that I was ready to start my own Scentsy business.
I’ve never been good with selling things to people. However, when I started, it seemed like everyone I talked to about Scentsy was interested. It was so easy to talk about Scentsy because it was something that I love and I’m passionate about the products. In my first month, I earned New Consultant Incentives. I was so excited to receive a bunch of discounted and free products, just for doing a good job at the start of my business. After a few months, I even received awards. This got me so much more excited. I felt like my hard work was paying off and I was being appreciated.
After a year, I decided to relocate, and I moved across the country. I moved back to my home state, Illinois. It was hard at first to move my business and try to get a new customer base in a complete different area of the country. I was afraid that it wasn’t going to be as successful as it was. But, I worked hard. I brought catalogs and products everywhere I went. For example, people would ask for lotion, I pull out Scentsy lotion from my purse, and that started conversations. After marketing myself in a new area, I soon had more and new customers. My business was growing faster and stronger than before. I was so afraid in the beginning, but Scentsy can be anywhere and everywhere. All you have to do it work hard and you get what you put in.
As the years go by, I look back to when I started Scentsy. It’s changed and grown so much. I’m so happy that I joined and that I stuck with it, even when times were tough. I absolutely love the products and coming home from work to a house that smells amazing. I’m happy to have gained knowledge, friends, and so many opportunities that I wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for Scentsy. I hope that people also fall in love with the products like I did. Starting my own Scentsy business has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Scentsy has changed my life.
